Explorer Teams
We are proud to host two thriving Explorer Scout Units at Priory Hall, providing the next stage in Scouting for young people aged 14–18 as they move up from Scouts. Kings Heath ESU and Foresters ESU are both district Explorer Units operating under the Cole Valley South Scout District charity.
Kings Heath ESU was established in 2010 to meet the growing need for Explorer provision across Kings Heath, Selly Park and Moseley. Since its formation, Priory Hall has proudly served as its home, supporting generations of Explorer Scouts as they continue their Scouting journey.
In response to rising numbers and increasing demand, Foresters ESU was launched in 2024 to expand opportunities for young people across the District and help reduce waiting lists. The Unit initially met at St Agnes Church Hall before relocating to Priory Hall in 2025, where it formed a close partnership with Kings Heath ESU.
Today, the two Units operate as sister units, working collaboratively under a shared leadership team and governance structure. Together, they provide a dynamic, supportive and well-resourced environment in which young people can grow, challenge themselves and develop as individuals.

The Explorer Teams
Our Explorer section gives young people the opportunity to take their Scouting journey even further, embracing new challenges and greater responsibility. Explorers build advanced skills, develop strong leadership qualities and grow in independence through adventurous activities, expeditions, camps and community projects. With increased input into planning their programme and leading initiatives, they learn to make decisions, work collaboratively and take ownership of their achievements. Explorers are encouraged to step outside their comfort zones, support younger members and prepare for future opportunities both within and beyond Scouts. The Explorer leadership team provides guidance, mentorship and encouragement, creating a supportive environment where every young person can thrive, build resilience and realise their full potential.
